Perth & Margaret River

Every two years, Tourism Australia host conference and incentive buyers from around the world for a few days of meetings and experiences to showcase how fabulous Australia is as a conference & incentive destination. This year the “Dreamtime” event was held in Perth, WA.

My first trip to Perth in over 20 years and wow what a change! A sophisticated, well planned city with an impressive selection of top hotels and venues. From the worldclass Optus Stadium to the Surf Clubs of Freemantle, to visiting the quokas on Rottnest, this destination has plenty to offer.

From Perth the Kiwi contingent flew to the Margaret River where we enjoyed beautiful lodges, eateries, wineries & distilleries - these products make this region an ideal mix with a few days in Perth.

Bali

Having never been to Bali before I was excited to be invited by our suppliers, Air New Zealand and Destination Asia, to experience this destination. To be honest I did not know what to expect as had some people telling me I would love it and others saying I wouldn’t …. well I have to say that I am in the “love” camp!

We were fortunate enough to stay at Hyatt properties - Hyatt Regency Sanur for a couple of nights to start. A lovely quieter area in Bali, this hotel has been fully refurbished and offers plenty for groups and individual travellers alike - beachfront location, excellent staff and great dining options. In Seminyak we stayed at the Alila - spacious rooms, beachfront location, and one of the best buffet breakfasts I have ever experienced, makes this property one to consider in Seminyak.

Our time in Bali was full of visits to amazing venues and eateries. From traditional villages and lunch amongst the padi fields to stunning resorts and beachfront dining, to the more exclusive beach clubs, this destination has it all and only a 9 hour flight way!

Slovenia & Croatia

I have just returned from my site inspection to Slovenia and Croatia as we have a group travelling there in 2020.

Such a stunning and breathtaking destination, many of us have been to Croatia but have you experienced Slovenia? It’s a must when heading to this part of Europe!

Beginning our journey in Ljubljana, one of Europe’s best kept secrets, this city has exquisite architecture reflecting its rich history of Germanic, Mediterranean and Slavic cultures. An easy drive takes you to the paradise spot that is Lake Bled and home of Bled Castle.

From here we travelled south to the Istrian region of Croatia enjoying the medieval towns along the way. A visit to the national park, Plitvice Lakes, is a must-do enroute to Split. With its exceptional natural beauty this UNESCO World Heritage listed site boasts exceptional natural beauty.

In Split we boarded our luxury cruise to Dubrovnik exploring the islands of Brac, Hvar, Korcula and Mljet for the week. For those of you that have not yet cruised Croatia, this is an absolute “must do” - either as individuals or as a group charter.

Note: walk the wall in Dubrovnik early in the morning or in the evening - you can see how hot I am in this pic!

I can’t wait to return to these fabulous spots with my client and their customers

Fiji

I was lucky enough to join Marriott Hotels on their famil to Fiji. Although I have been to Fiji many times I had not yet experienced their newer properties in Fiji - Sheraton Tokoriki and Marriott Momi Bay. Our time started in Denarau at the Westin Hotel & Spa.

The oldest property on Denarau and still a favourite - traditional and inviting. The new rooms built next to the Westin Spa are stunning and who can resist some time in that heavenly spa! The Sheraton Fiji and Resort has opened fabulous new conference space, definitely the premier meeting space on the island. This property is closing late 2019 for up to a year for a full and stunning refurbishment. Being an ex Sheraton team member, I have fond memories of this resort and cannot wait to see what changes are coming.

Gold Coast & Byron Bay

The last time I was on the Gold Coast was with a group at the GC600 Supercars in 2015 and wow there have been some changes! Our famil with Business Events Australia highlighted the exciting options for events on the GC. Staying at the premier Sofitel Gold Coast this luxury hotel is located in the heart of Broadbeach, within easy walking distance of the beach and Pacific Fair, the Southern hemisphere’s largest shopping centre.

So many new venues are now on offer -
